Google Ads: what clicks actually cost in 2026
Cost per click is the most widely misread number in online marketing. Look only at it and you will pay more per customer than the competitor with the pricier click.
Online Advertising
Two businesses with the same customers and no competing offer can halve their advertising cost. The obstacle is never the idea, it is the agreement.

A kitchen studio and an electrician serve the same person at the same moment. A wedding photographer and a florist likewise. Neither competes with the other, and both spend money to reach the same household.
Three questions decide whether a partnership makes sense.
| Format | Effort | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Shared flyer or mailing | low | medium |
| Mutual recommendation to customers | low | high |
| Shared offer or bundle | medium | high |
| Joint event | high | very high |
| Shared advertising budget | medium | medium |
| Reciprocal links and mentions online | low | medium, plus search benefit |
The second row is the most underrated. A personal recommendation from a tradesperson the customer already trusts converts better than any paid channel.
Even between friends, and especially between friends.
Point three matters. Passing customer data to a partner requires a legal basis. In most cases the customer must be told and agree. A shared mailing sent by one partner to their own list is the simpler route.
Give each partner a distinct route: a separate landing page, a code word, a specific phone extension. Without that you will argue about who delivered and repeat something that did not work.
Reckon on three months before a partnership shows results. The first joint action is usually a rehearsal.
Ask your customers who else they buy from. Three interviews give a better list than any research.
Usually not. Contributions in kind and shared cost are simpler and avoid invoicing and tax complications.

Most accounts grow wild. After two years nobody remembers why a given ad group exists. A structure that is still readable after a hundred changes.

Online Advertising
A campaign type that plays across every channel and shows you almost nothing. For some firms it is the strongest lever available; for others an expensive trap.
