Advertising for trade businesses
Most trade firms have too much work and too few staff. That inverts the entire advertising brief, and almost nobody adjusts for it.

Booked six months ahead, used for two weeks, and chosen almost entirely on photographs and reviews. A seasonal business with a long consideration period.

A rental motorhome earns money in perhaps sixteen weeks of the year. Everything in the marketing serves one objective: raising utilisation in the weeks that are not July.
| Booking period | Travel period |
|---|---|
| Jan to Mar | summer peak |
| Apr to May | late summer, autumn |
| Ongoing, short lead | weekends, off-season |
| Sep to Oct | following spring |
Advertising in June for July is competing for whatever is left. The budget belongs in January.
A substantial share of enquiries come from people who have never driven a motorhome. They are anxious about size, licence requirements, parking, emptying tanks and what happens if something breaks.
Answering those questions thoroughly is the marketing. A handover video, a written guide, a page on licence categories and a genuine offer of support on the road all convert enquiries that otherwise evaporate.
Every vehicle, inside and out, in daylight, with the beds made up in both configurations. The shower. The kitchen with the equipment visible. The driving position. The storage.
A floor plan alongside is worth as much as the photographs, because renters are trying to work out whether four people fit.
Off-peak weeks are the profit. Approaches that work:
This is a high-value rental of a complex vehicle to strangers. Reviews are the mechanism by which risk is reduced on both sides.
Ask at return, respond to everything, and address the recurring complaints, which in this sector are usually about cleanliness, handover time and deposit handling.
Deposit amount, insurance excess, mileage limits, one-way availability, pet policy and cancellation terms are decision factors, not small print.
Publishing them clearly loses the enquiries that would have become disputes and wins the ones from people who have compared and found you comprehensible.
Peak summer weeks are booked 4 to 8 months in advance. The advertising must be present in winter.
Yes, they are the growth segment, but they need considerably more explanatory content and support.

Roofing demand is weather-driven, seasonal, and half of it is an emergency. Three different campaigns, not one.

Small callouts pay poorly and fill the diary. Advertising should be aimed at the three job types that actually carry the business.
